Loss

We have all lost things at one time or another.

Car Keys.

Important Papers.

Opportunities.

Sometimes the things that we lose are fairly insignificant. Sometimes we are lucky enough to find the things that we lost. Unfortunately, at some point in our lives, we will lose something of great value.

Friends.

Family.

Sometimes we lose friends or family because of a disagreement where no one is willing to compromise. Sometimes we lose friends or family because we can't say "I'm sorry." Sometimes we lose friends or family because we can't forgive.

The saddest and most difficult loss of all is when you lose a friend or a family member to death.

Death.

Something that is so final and often so tragic. Something that makes you wonder if there really is a God up there in Heaven. Something that makes you want to find the reason why. Sometimes death is easier to accept and understand. Like when my grandpa passed away. He had been very sick for a long time and we all knew that his time was coming. Other times, death catches everyone off guard. It blindsides you because you had no idea it was coming. And it's those times that make you cry out and wonder how, why God could let it happen. We have all been taught that He has a plan for everyone but it's so difficult to understand how His plan can include cutting a vibrant, young life short - leaving a family broken and in tatters trying to pick up the pieces and carry on. Sometimes, through the sorrow of others, it becomes painfully clear that you truly are not guaranteed another day, another hour, or even another minute on this Earth. You suddenly become painfully aware of just how important it is to tell everyone that is special to you just how much they mean to you. Tonight, I will hold my boys and my husband a little closer and tell them "I love you" a few extra times. For we never truly know exactly what God's plan is for us or for those we love.
